My first 35mm camera was a Practica MTL50 with a 50mm lens. I was just 17 when I bought it off my big brother with an ever-ready case and a cheap Dixon’s flash unit that sat on the top hot shoe.
35 years on and a lot of cameras later I shoot Nikon digital. In my opinion, it's the best.
Over the years I've owned various other cameras apart from Nikon although they have been my main cameras since I was 19. I've owned a couple of Canon's including the EOS650 35mm film camera (inherited from my Father) and my first digital was a 'point and shoot' Canon purchased from Jessops in High Wycombe. I also had a Bronica GS1 120 roll film camera which was just marvellous quality wise but that was traded in when I bought my first Nikon digital SLR - the D7000. Not forgetting the legendary Practica that started me off all those years ago, now long gone.
I've also owned various ancillary items such as flash kits, tripods, backdrops, filters, cases and all manner of other things. I recommend Velbon, Benbo and Manfrotto tripods, Lowepro bags and cases, the Nikon Rumours website for all the up to date gossip and news on Nikon cameras and Talk Photography for a great on-line forum suitable for all levels of photography.
